I've just created a new content type and a search type for it. If I create a menu item for the search , it works just fine. But if I create a search module, there are no results.
Here is what I want to achieve:
-- have the serach form as a module (only the form, I don't want all the related content listed under)
-- have the results on a new page
How can I make this happen?
Search module should work the same way as when you link to the search in component. Please enable debugging and see if there is any difference in query that is produced.

so, sorry abandoning this topc, but in the meantime i worked this out. Probably it is obvious, i am a newbie.
I only had to set the menu item target in the module manager to the menu item which points to the list & search type. I made a hidden menu for it so that it doesn't show up in the main menu.
I'm having the same difficulty. I have set the Menu Item Target to the Seblod search component page, however when I try to do a search from the module, it takes me to the home page and no search results.
1.Create a new menu item. Choose the type List and Search. Under required settings set the search type to the search type you created before.
2. Create a module SEBLOD-Search. Under basic options set the search type to the search type you created before. Set the menu item target the the menu item you created in step 1.

It seems I have it as you suggest, but something must be off. The search component page works fine, but the search module still bumps me to the home page as if Joomla is trying to access a non-existing page.
I'm facing the very same problem.
My search module Menu Item Target points directly to the list (menu item) I created before. Performing a search results in a redirect to the homepage. Several url fragments are getting lost during the search, like ItemId, view and even option (com_cck).
