Hi folks

SOLVED: (stupidly) I had an email address being sent to twice. Before J3.6 this was ok...

I have noticed that my email field is no longer sending emails.

Anyone else notice this?

I have tested on two sites,

Both are Joomla 3.6.2

One is Seblod 3.9.1

The other is Seblod 3.9.0

I will test on a 3.8 version when I have a chance...

Hi,

check your to and to(fields) settings, joomla became more strict about this field in 3.6 and if they are configured incorrectly email won't be sent.

Hi  Klas

1

I still can not send email through the field.

It was working, but now it is not and no matter what changes I do, same result - zilch!

I'm going to restore an old version with older Joomla and older seblod to see what happens

2

I have now tested with an old backup that used Joomla 3.5.1, and Seblod 3.8.2 and it worked fine.

I copied the same settings over i.e. the email field config stuff and no joy...

No one else has piped up to say there email field isn't sending emails, so does that imply it's not a bug?

Any tips or info that could help?

Any particular log file maybe?

Hi,

please make a screenshot of your email field configuration, if you use to(fields), also add a screenshot of that fields configuration.

Hi,

your configuration from old site seems ok. I can't see configuration from new site as both posts are the same with images 2 and 3 beeing the same.

Have you tested your server configuration? In latest joomla versions thare is Send test email button, so you can verify if your email server setings are ok.

Hi

I will do that

Nice idea...

1
RE Test email from Joomla! admin: Just tried it, email came through lightning fast...
I will compare my old version's db with current version's db and see if I can spot anything...
2
The images are the same because I didn't change anything. I only amended them in testing to try and get a result
3
I just tried again with the old version then upgraded to see effects, you are definitely correct about Joomla 3.6.0! and some change within
Joomla! 3.5.1 (Seblod 3.8.4) = RESULT (email sent)
Joomla! 3.6.0 (Seblod 3.8.4) = NO RESULT (email not sent)
Joomla! 3.6.0 (Seblod 3.9.0) = NO RESULT (email not sent)

Hi,

don't search for the differences as it is not the cause, you need to figure out which setting is causing this. Usually the problem is in the To or To(fields), but your setting seems ok. Since Joomla 3.6 is performing strict checks on the email from, to etc fields and if something is missing or is not configured correctly it won't be sent. I would try changing fields one by one to see which one is causing the problem.

Hi Klas

I have found cause:

In my email config, I had the email being sent to the same email address twice. Solution: Remove the reference of duplicate email address

It was referenced as the 'To' address, but also it was the email address of the 'administrator'

I had this set up for a while but hadn't got round to changing it yet.

Thanks for guiding me in the right direction
