I have just installed the Generic Search plugin and it's great! Like all great things in Seblod it takes some time to digest.

I have multiple Content Types assigned to my Search Type.  Likewise, I would like to be able to search across several fields within those Content Types which they may not have in common.  (Example: one Content Type might have a "Country" field and another a "Location Description" field.  If I search on "New York" I want to return articles for both Content Types. The search term New York could also be one of the other fields too.)

Here is my Search Type Form View design showing settings I have changed from defaults:

(default) CCK field: Live Value = Multiple Content Types Select,  Match = Any Words, Variation = Hidden
Article Title: Match = Any Words, Variation = Hidden
Article Fulltext: Match = Any Words, Variation = Hidden
Location Description: Match = Any Words, Variation = Hidden
Country: Match = Any Words, Variation = Hidden
Search Generic: Match = Any Words

My List View just hast the Article Title for display.

Not sure why but this only seems to search on the Article Titles and nothing else.

Thanks,
Joe

Hello joem,
the plugin Search Generic is only for searching in differents fields, but not in differents content type.

The search in differents content type is due to the CCK field. You must fill the live value with all content types separate by comma, and set the match to "Any word exact" and specify the separate option = , (comma).

Now, for the search generique, in it's configuration, you have to add all fields in which you want to search. For the match, let the match "Permissive"

To see the query, in the search type, in tab configuration set ON the debug option.

regards.
