Hello,

I have heard general question to the GroupX function. Normally you make it like this:

  1. setting up our own content-type with all your fields you what I have in the group
  2.  make new (globally accessible) field (GroupX), which refer to your content-type
  3.  add the GroupX field to your content-type

Troubleshooting-Tipp:  You need to set up of the content-type (for group fields), the field on the right forms that it worked.

my question:

It's correct to set the storage in the content-type (for setup group fields) to none?

thanks for answering

That's what I'm wondering as well.

I've read that you need to set a custom storage, and I've read that you shouldn't and just let Seblod handle the storage by itself.

Anyone know the answer to what's the best/needed practice for this?

Hello Kenneth,

you need to set an storage option like Seblod has recommended, when you add the new field. This should be: "custom" and saving in "introtext". Otherwise you will be run in troubles later on.

Nice. I tried, and it worked perfectly.

My setup was like this:

Group X field: custom storage

The fields in the group x: standard

Will that give trouble down the road, or should I change to custom storage also for the fields in the group x?

The GroupX field should be in custom storage and saved in introtext, that you getting no troubles when you wanna calling groupx field by template overwrites.

The fields inside groupx (Contentype of the group) - just let it like seblod recommend it.

Just one correction - group_x storage needs to be custom, but it does not need to use introtext, you can use e.g. fieldname.
