I need to restrict full content type articles to only specified usergroups. Which field would I use to select which usergroups I want to allow to see the article?

restriction fields are for fields only. Restriction for complete article is done by Joomla ACl or for view by viewlevels, unfortunately this is limitation of the way Seblod works as it displays inside Joomla article.
You can restrict all fields so that unauthorized users will be able to see only blank page. You can also add code field with redirection to e.g. home page (either javascript or usign Joomla redirect function) and put reverse restriction on it, so that it only shows when user is not allowed, it will redirect to some page.
