I have bought the search generic plugin and it works quiet well, but it doesnt search in group X fields. Unfortunately there is no documentation or tutorial.
General Question: is it possible to search group X content with this plugin or not?

There are some settings that may give us the opportunity to search group X fields too. For example if you click on the "+" beside the "Matching field" a pop-up window opens in which you will be able to set a connection to a group X field. This field ist called "collection". In this field I have chosen my group X field but nothing happens.
Does anyone know for what functionality this field is for???

Best regards

Here is the solution:

1) You have to put the storage of all fields in the groupx content type to custom/article/introtext[fieldnamex]. So dont put the storage format to none!!!! Otherwise it will not work!!!!!!!!

So field 1 storage is custom/article/introtext[fieldname1],
field 2 storage is custom/article/introtext[fieldname2] and so on

2) On the search generic plugin you have to add all fields of this groupx that should be searched.
3) You have to told the plugin, that this fields are part of a groupx field. So press the number 3 button on the search form (match + stage). On the right side of the form input you will find a +. Click on it and a modal window will open. Here you can choose your groupx content type.

Unfortunately I havent found a possibility to choose more than onf groupx, but if anybody will have an idea..... let me know

If you start to enter a word in your search mask - all fields of the groupx are included in the search.

Restriction: This only works with 1 content type with a groupx. If you try to search also in other content types (independent if they include a groupx or not), you will not get results from the other content types.
The reason for this behavior is that in the search query is a bug which adds the groupx to all content types (also to the fields of other content types which dont belong to this groupx)

I hope this limitation will be eliminated in the future, so we will be able to use the SEBLOD-Search like the Joomla standard search.

Thank you, Jürgen, for this post.

I was struggling to get the normal search in List&Search type to work with groupx fields.

Reason: setting up groupx I followed the tutorial where it says to set storage for the fields in the groupx content type to "None".

After following the instructions here in this thread I almost got it working.

One important piece of information was missing, though:

You have to set storage for your groupx field also to custom/article/introtext[groupxfieldname].

Otherwise search won't work.
