Maybe you can try and hide the fields so only author could see them. Maybe the user plugin

There is no built-in way to do it, you would need to use beforeRender field to do the redirect if current user doesn't match the author.

What about a "Search & List" with user_id as live value?

This would work, but would not prevent to to someone to see other's profile trough direct url (depending on the url settings you just need to change user id or username).
