Why is the category description missing in the front end editing form despite it is set in the construction configuration? And how do I get it to show up there?

Even the (not exactly useful) tutorial has this bug: http://www.seblod.com/resources/manuals/going-further/adding-a-front-end-joomla-category-submission-form ...

Very frustrating to work with SEBLOD. Unfortunatelly there is probably no alternative at the moment when it comes down to power.

Hello carin,
all form can't be basicaly like any user need. So basicaly, the description field is not in the form, but avalaible on the right column.
So just add it in the form wiev and in the intro & content view, and the description will be displayed.

Be sure to have the good right to see the wysiwyg in front (depending on which wysiwyg you are using in joomla).

Regards.

Oh, I just realise you are from the Octpoos company ... and you give a related answer that is indeed trying to solve a problem ... I never saw that before ... I am thrilled to see that now ... that is great! Thank you! So there is still hope that we users get some insight to use SEBLOD for more complex scenarios. I watched some tutorials but they only scratch the surface, very hard to get a comprehensive overview, not to mention that you have to watch 1h to just get that tiny info you are looking for.

Thank you for trying to help. I just dont get it. In your own tutorial the "Category Description" field is clearly visible inside MAINBODY in the construction setup. Why does it not appear inside the mainbody in the last screenshot of the frontend view?

"the description field is not in the form, but avalaible on the right column."
No, it is not available, because it is already in the MAINBODY section.

cheers

Hello carin,
and thank you for your irony, this helps us a lot.

Category description field work like other fields. if it's in a position, it will be displayed, that's all.

In the screenshot of the manual, the description is not displayed in the frontend because like i said in my last post, Joomla wysiwyg need good right to be displayed. Like you see on the screenshot, the user is not logged and by default Joomla wysiwyg is not displayed for guest.

It's not a SEBLOD problem, but a Wysiwyg feature. SEBLOD work like Joomla work, so to work with SEBLOD you must first know how Joomla work.

Regards.

HI Lionel, irony and humor helps me to survive in the SEBLOD universe, without it I would have been lost already ...

I have never heard of "good right" in respect to permissions or ACL. What does this mean?

Appart from that I expect SEBLOD to take care of all the permissions when I set the Site Form with all Actions to "allowed" for Public. I dont know of any place in Joomla where I could give permission to a textarea that overrules the component specific settings - can you please point me there when you say that such a place exists and that you know Joomla much better than I do.

cheers, and try some humor some time
