Is this something new with a latter seblod/joomla version ?
When you create a SEBLOD user form menu item to create users in front office, the notifications emails can't be sent unless you are also connected in the back office in another tab of the same browser.
The user is created but you get a SMTP error message if you are not also connected to the back office.
Of course this problem only occurs if you have selected automatic or administrator in the email notification mode in the user config panel.

just working with that this afternoon, and all is good on my side.
I would say that an SMTP error have nothing to see with the form.
How are setting the mail configuration in the server setting in Joomla! ?
