Can seblod manage listings by custom date fields for events.
I can imagine scenarios being like show all dates from now into future, now and past etc

Did you ever figure this out? Im building a website for event listings using Seblod in the hope that I can achieve what you asked. i.e. listing events from today until future and maybe a page of past events.

I think you can use match state "future only" or "future" and other from date and time matches in button 3 of search and list types.
