Hey all,

I've created a content type, and I want to separate all the listings in it by location, for this I've used categories and sub-categories. For example, a listing located in *City*, has the category structure of *Country*->*State*->*City* and then the listing.

Now in my search form, when I select *City*, and press search, the results are showing correctly, but when I select *Country* or *State*, nothing is returned.

I would like to setup the search so that selecting a state returns ALL the results from its Subcategories (all the cities in the state) and same with the Country. How can I setup my search form so that when a category is selected, it also returns the results from its subcategories?

Thanks for your help,

Valar Morghulis

EDIT: No replies? Come on guys I know this is a simple request and SEBLOD can handle it, I must be missing something simple.

Hi.

I think you can use this product http://www.seblod.com/products/8538 to do what you want.

Hi Jeka,

Thanks for your reply (and the GoT greeting!), however, I'm not sure the plugin you've suggested is the right thing for me.

All I'm trying to do is simply this - when I select a top-level category, let's say 'India', and click 'Search', then I should be able to see all articles that are in that category (India), as well as all articles from its subcategories, for example - all articles under 'India', as well as 'Maharashtra' (as this is a sub-category of India), and even from 'Mumbai' (we are following the path 'India' -> 'Maharashtra' -> 'Mumbai').

I took a look at the plugin and I think it be more suited if the sub-categories were one level deep, but this is not the case.

Thanks for your help,

Hi.

Maybe you are right about one level, but not sure. In the settings of this field you can set fields from wich nested list will get values.

More about that - http://www.seblod.com/resources/tutorials/create-a-dynamic-list-within-a-list-item

Also read about "Select Dynamic Cascade", maybe it can be a solution.

One more posible way is to use joomla categories output with http://www.seblod.com/products/8538 product.

In settins of the field you have to retrieve id of parent category.

In any case, sorry if my answers confusing you.

Hi Jeka,

Thanks for your reply, I'll definitely research further on the plugins you've suggested.
