Hello all

I plan to use the multisites feature to incorporate about 10 websites, for a social networking portal, each having lots of content types, categories, users, articles, photos, etc. broken into forums, comment system, product displays, order forms, etc. I plan to use only Joomla and Seblod, max three non-Seblod plugins and modules. Of course, each content type and list/search will have one or more templates for various situations.

My question is, since Seblod multisites feature uses one database for all sites, all sharing resources, does it have a negative impact on speed? If you've had some experience with this please let me know.

Thank you

Hi

we have multisites operating, up to approx 60.

whether one or many sites the issue really will be the amount of content and complexity you have not the number of sites

You say are going to have lots of users. I would research this carefully in regard to number of user and groups that will be able to have and want.

We have had issues in regard to number or users when many user groups - around 70 is the limit with groups.

User Groups relate to sub domains in multi sites - this is something you will need to understand the implications of.

read more under the seblod 2 forum about this matter and joomla issues.

Hello fredee

Thank you very much for  your helpful response. I definitely want to research this thoroughly. Some of the websites will be quite complex. For example, one will be news and forums, meaning it needs normal forum functions, news functions, facebook and twitter, comment systems, feedback,  avatars, and  all the necessary user interaction and features that usually make up such a site. The number of content, users and interaction requirements on this site alone will be massive. The others, while sharing some items, will add their own huge number of content, users and features to the network. I just have a feeling that its bound to have some impact on performance, especially over time, as users and content and features increase.

Hello Edwin,

Like Freedee said the limitation is about the number of Joomla groups. And it's a Joomla limitation.

SEBLOD is designed to provide a high performance. To have more than 100000 contents is not an problem.

You must be careful to optimize the storage of your fields in regards of list and search type.

Best Regards

Hi Seb, please,

"the limitation is about the number of Joomla groups. And it's a Joomla limitation" = Is it anything that Joomla core is investigating ? Or, Is it a final joomla limit ?

Thinking on using Seblod Multisite feature, in case a project grow up too hurry, or simply a customer decide to carry away its site (that is one of the Multisites) with all sub sites, Is there a way to export part of our installation (one of the "Multisite" and all related sites) and reinstall it on a new Joomla/Seblod installation ?

Is there a way for "Multisite feature" to work with one joomla installation and more than one Database ?

Why not have Seblod listed in Multiple Sites for its Multisite feature ?

Thinking on the UserGroups limitation and create less UserGroups as it possible, an answer to this issue would be too appreciate,

Many Thanks :)

Hello all (and Bes)

Thanx for your input. Because I'm not yet too clear on Joomla/Seblod user group limitations, I am currently building three websites, all sharing users, some data, templates, etc. (Anything I want). Of course it takes longer going this route, but I think this is the way for me to go, until I am clear about the limitations Bes highlighted above.

My aim is to be finished middle July. I will post my findings (and pain) here.
