Hello

The more we use Seblod the more we love it... and hate Joomla :(
Actually the main problem we have with Joomla is its router and its sef managment. Joomla only builds its sef routes upon the menu items.

It would be ok IF it would consider any kinds of menu items (then the Seblod lists and forms) BUT it only knows the native Joomla menu items!

Thus we have two big problems with Joomla+Seblod:
  • The finder (smart search) can't build right sef urls if we don't use the native Joomla category/blog lists but the Seblod lists instead
  • When you have a seblod search form on several content types you are unable to specify the right menu item in the SEE link plugin (because you don't know which content type you get)

For the second problem we built a special link plugin that  looks for the right menu item in the whole site according to some rules to set in the plugin.

For the first problem ... we don't have any solution unless we use the seblod generic search  with the link plugin we developped, or use some external search solutions.

I whish to hear your opinion on this joomla/seblod linkage.

thanks

cyril

Really? Did i miss such an important drawback in my local tests... typically with SEF URLs turned off. I always thought SEBLOD's tide integration makes it even easier in regards of routing/SEF.

It's not a seblod problem... but a joomla one !

Since the joomal router looks for itemids for its sef urls you HAVE TO specify the right menu item each time you build a route.
For the seblod search results, if you want to add a link towards each content page it can become very tricky if your contents in the result lists come form different parts of the site (with different menu items)

As for the com_finder (smart search) the problem is even worse since there is no way to tell the finder to take into account the seblod lists as menu items.

Hi

I started a thread at https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/joomla-dev-cms/pCAPIs980kk to get the Joomla router redone but it will need
  • several companies gathered to support the developpment of the new router
  • some job from the seblod team to have seblod more integrated with Joomla (for the finder at least)
Hannes Papenberg (who already modified J2.5 and J3.x router according to some requests of ours) is ok and sent me the quotation and the detail of what he would do.

This new router will allow a much easier integration of menu items that are not native menu items (such as seblod lists)

But all this job is useless if Seblod doesn't add some plugins to take advantage of the new router.

thanks

Great news!

We will be very happy to benefit the new Joomla router and to bring modification needed on SEBLOD.
Count on Octopoos team to do this!

Thank you!

Hi pulsarinfomatique,
Many Thanks for this work on SEF, too appreciate by me. I think that SEF and FEED are two of the most important things (right now) to take a look and optimize.

I put in evidence to you this issue about SEF
Please, Can you replicate it ?!?
