This originally was a post about the lack of support here. Since then, lloyd and I have been throwing ideas at each other and lloyd has been coming up with solutions that we feel will help everyone.  While this thread is not organized as a how to, there are some good tips and tutorials throughout this thread.

Enjoy and if you can participate, feel free.

Some of their documentation on here has some information on the basics of app creation under resources.  I also have a couple videos for seblod introduction that I've made :1 and 2.  If you're on youtube you should also check  out James Morrel's channel which he does an excellent job explaining the basics as well.  But I agree with you, there are a lot of unanswered questions and it's frustrating to me as well.

Thank you for your post. Your two videos taught me more than all of Morrel's. I hope you make more.
There are still a lot of things that I'm trying to figure out but you really really helped out with just your two videos.

Thank you for the feedback. I will be posting more videos than definitely now that I know that they're helping.  Anything specific that you would like me to cover? I'm by no means a Seblod master as I've only been using it for about 3-4 months but it is an incredible tool that other extensions simply cannot match. Although the learning curve is definitely frustrasting.

Hmm...Well, I guess that depends on what you've learned how to do.

Here are some things that I might need in the future.

  • Multi-Table forms (main form related to the subform)
  • Creating reports
  • Prefilling a form field with data from another form..Think entering in a team results and you don't want to keep entering the league field...

I don't know off the top of my head.

I also don't know how to get a list (A list, I do know) and create a link that opens that individual record.

An example would be making a list of Vendors, then i want click on the Vendor name and open a Detailed view of the vendor.

You know stuff like that?  Wish I had more ideas off the top of my head.

Lloyd, do you know how to total up columns in a list?

Golf league tracker where I will need to apply points for finishing positions and keep a running total.

Does ANYONE know how this might be done.

I am also in need of some assitance with multi-page forms myself. I'll get another video up this week of an app I created yesterday. I will look into the running total today and see if I can get that solved because that would definitely be useful.

You know what I can't figure out how to do right now?
I can't figure out how to open a form to EDIT existing records?

Here is where I'm at right now.  I have created a LIST...It shows me all of the items in my table that I have searched for.  What I would like to do it click on an item in the LIST and have it open an individual record. Once I'm viewing the individual record, select an EDIT button and edit that record.

ANY way this can be done is okay with me. Any ideas?

Dniezby, I have a solution for you that I believe should do what you want. First, you need to go to your list/item view in search type and lick on the '2' for Link + Markup. Then Select the field which you want the link place on and select 'view' from the dropdown and leave everything default. Also for this make sure your content view for your content type is setup to display the correct fields for your front-end view. Now do a list search on the front end (make sure your're logged in through site -- permissions) in order to be able to edit. You will see a link on the field where you placed it in your list view and click on that and should take you to the actual article. Once it links there you can just click on the edit button and made changes as needed.  Screenshots to clear up anything I might have skipped over.

Also, can you rename the title of this topic to be more relevant to what we are discussing? This way people can find this topic easily in the future for a reference.

As always, your help has been amazing.
I've retitled the topic as best I could. Hell, this thread will teach people more than their entire documentation.

As for your method, when I click on the link I get a strange page with this

2013-07-23-00-53-56

Then there are the usual article icons for print/email/edit

IF I click the edit button, I get a page full of errors, with the form at the bottom and the ability to edit it.

Notice: A non well formed numeric value encountered in C:\wamp\www\xxx\plugins\cck_field\calendar\calendar.php on line 83

It's strange. I don't get any of those good looking forms you show in your screencap. LOL. It should be noted that I'm on my localhost building this app to eventually upload as a component to my livesite.

Do you have your fields in your content view for the correct content type?

No, I didn't...It's funny though.  This morning I was looking at the site and said..Hmm, I wonder if this is what it means for the content form?

Though, I didn't get the nice edit button like you have on your page, I did get the form to open properly.  The only edit button it the 3 icons in the top right.

See, the stuff you an I are talking about is the stuff they should be writing manuals on.  I mean adding fields to an existing Joomla form is nice but not as useful as building an "app" from scratch.

Thanks for all of your help.  I wish I could return the favor but you're  way ahead of me.

I was thinking of writing a PDF Manual on how ACTUALLY build an application with Seblod and outline the things we've discussed. Before I go there, I want to learn how to do a few more things.

Hey dniezby,

I believe I have solved your running total list view problem (You will probably have to look into the joomla related article field for your complete running total, not sure if my solution will compeletely satisfy or not). This will get you in the right direction and you can adjust to fit your specific needs. First you need to create a text field that will serve as your total field within your content type. Set that field to value and place in the "hidden position" Then goto computation on that total field (button 5) and click edit under computation. Then select sum and add in the fields that you need a total of.  Now goto your list view and add in that total field you created in your content type. I've provided screenshots below. If your familiar with a little sql you should check the SD Databaser App that might also give you some of the functionality that you desire.

Let me know if this helps.

I'll have to check this out as soon as get a chance.  I'm not working on the component I was thinking of yet.
