Hi
If we use the SEARCH GENERIC plugin seblod seaches results with a OR operator between the various fields.

However we wish we could order the results by relevance: if the search generic is set up on 3 fields (for instance) we need to display
first the results that match all the 3 fields, then with 2 fields then with only one field

Has someone an idea how to make this happens please?

thanks

Ok, that's the limit of the Joomla/seblod integration here.
on the first hand it is said that the Joomla smart search is not reliable, so don't use it, use seblod search instead. And it's true com_finder doesn't know the seblod menu items so it won't be able to generate right sef urls

on the second hand the seblod search is not as advanced if should be. At least I whish there is someone here giving us some hints where to start from for the relevance addition.

The right solution would be to use a third party search engine and make it work with the cck content types in webservices but it is way harder to do

thanks

Hi Cyril,

Yesterday, I 've read this information on RocketTheme site.
RocketTheme team is working on the release of its new site which will propose a new search system based on Elastic Search.

Hi Simon
yes, this is what I wrote, the solution seems to forget either the Joomla and the seblod searches and use a professional third party solution (Solr or much easier Elastic search).

I doubt Rocketthem will give us some help here since what we are trying to do is a seblod content related search.

I don't see the link between the seblod search& lists and elastic search. I guess we would keep the seblod search&lists for simple lists and searchs in the site and connect elastic search with the seblod content types for advanced searches.

For the general search there won't be much to do since elastic search should crawl the site and just index the results. it will solve many problems of SEO urls since it only knows what the web user can see. No database content indexing and pathetic attempts to rebuild the right sef urls (guessing the right menu items!).

For advanced searches we have to find the right way to interface elastic search with the seblod contents to give the web user the ability to filter his search

To bad this wasn't accomplished. I've been stuck on this for some days now. That really is a weakness regarding Seblod search, when it is needed for user inputed searches.
