Did anyone of you use WP Types (with Views, CRED, Access, Layouts) ? If so, why you use Seblod? What are main differences? Which differences are most important to you?

Hi Totello,

I imaging the biggest difference is that SEBLOD lets you use Joomla!

SEBLOD is more than just a CCK - or a way to build new content types. It's a full web application builder.

On the blog, we've recently gone in to the topic of "What is SEBLOD" - and last week looked at the apps feature which I think is a huge benefit to using SEBLOD.

Thank you for your answer, but I am looking for some more specific answer. For example: What I can't do with WP Types and can with Seblod and vice versa.

OK - maybe someone else who has used both can answer you there. But, if you're looking to find out more about SEBLOD features, I'd recommend looking at the links I sent you, and also looking at the SEBLOD Features page.

Hi there,

I just gave a try to WP Types (in their demo website), and in fact, this is really great too.

To me, using Types or SEBLOD depends about how far you would like to go with your website, how much complex it should be.

Types will alow you to develop your site faster than with SEBLOD, as it is (to my own opinion) more modern and easy to learn. SEBLOD seems to be older in the interface, more complex too. BUT Types has not the half the SEBLOD's possibilities regarding the functionnalities.

The SEBLOD's App capability is really useful. You can build entire processes with it. I don't know how far Types can go regarding that point, but you don't have the App functionnality. That means you can't develop an App, then develop and second one, an so on... With Types ("Toolset", in fact) you'll develop your entire website in one place. This is not a deep problem, just less manageable, for me.

I didn't play that much with Toolset, but I think I'll give it another try to make me a better opinion on it.

The real thing I can say is: SEBLOD go really far, and if you plan to build a complex website, so go with SEBLOD. If your custom fields are quietly simple, so maybe you could use Types, to go fastest in your development.

I just can say SEBLOD should learn from the Toolset modernity and simplicity. This is what I miss with SEBLOD. But it is really powerful, and you won't find such functionnalities like the ability to extend existing components with Toolset. Maybe I'm wrong, but this is my feeling about it for now.

Thanks a lot for your post, as I discovered Types thanks to you.

Best, and good luck! :)
