I was looking at the language associations options which are new in SEBLOD 3 and I think they are going in the right direction.
I have two suggestions which you may want to take onboard or not.
1) The option of assigning which fields will be translatable and which fields should be linked to the "original article" and always retains the same value (design challenge it is).
2) The optional option of a fallback language, which in the case the article does not exist in the current language, shows the article in the choosen fallback language.
The current functionality is not bad, and for sure will do!

1) We do this by using conditionals on "language field". If the user select "english" we will display field for "english". And to display the content we use a"typo" plugin which display the field value in regards of the current language. It's ok for few languages (4/6)
2) If 1) is used maybe you can try on SEBLOD form to fill an empty language field with the default language field by using the Code BeforeStore plugin (market).

I'm looking into the same thing i guess...
I have a product i want to show on a website and the description is a text-field. How can i get translations to show on that description-field when a user clicks on a language-flag?
Is it possible to let the administrator fill out four descriptions for four languages and on the site it would only show one language based on the flag? I looked at conditonals, but that doesn't seem an option.
Or is SEBLOD maybe compatible with joomfish or some similar translation-component?

Could you please explain more about this Typo JText plugin? Does it solves the issue of having just one content type for many languages?
I wonder if it works by having one field for each lenguage in the same content type, for example:
product_description_es and product_description_en
And in the contet tab you seet up wich to show in wich site lenaguage
I really need to solve this issue soon and would like to know if this will work before buy the plug in pack
