I am trying to list items from 2 categories and cant work out how to do it.
This is as far as i have got and this method doesnt seem very dynamic if i want to add more sub categories
1. Create a list and Search Type (called all_acts)
2. in the Search form of all_acts I have added the field "Act Type" which on the form is a Simple select field with two options(DJ=19/LiveAct=18) these numbers are stored into the Article's Category ID.
3. In the Live Value of Act Type I have put 18,19 in the hope that the results will show both categories and set the menu Item to search on first run.
The result is that I only ever get the items from category 18 or which ever number is first in the live value. I have tried removing the "," but still the same result.
Is there a way to list all of the items in more then one category or even better list all of the articles from all sub categories of a parent Category ID?

Regarding display of subcategories, you can put the Category Path into Search Form layout, that will allow displaying all sub categories.
What that means is, you have to search for a certain value on field (view #2) and insert category path (starting from root) in the form:
main-category/sub-category-level1/sub-category-level2/ (using categories alias)
